One of life’s utterly thankless tasks is cleaning a shower unit. Nothing that I am going to say it is going to change the fact that cleaning a shower is about as much fun as setting up a direct debt or getting a quote for life insurance. It is a thankless task because as soon as you use the thing again it is right back to square on if someone hasn’t taken the time and effort as you have to clean it as well. But whatever those 8mm shower glass panels like the ones at marvinandpinch.co.uk/products/8mm-clear-toughened-shower-screen-wetroom-panel-glass aren’t going to do themselves so let’s have a look at how you can get at least some of it done.  It is important to clean the shower as you don’t want to get a mould growing or the filler becoming discoloured as that is really annoying. You never know there may be some tips that will help protect it a bit but I very much doubt it.

The good news is you do not need to go in there armed to the teeth with a plethora of cleaning products. Whist there are more than enough products on the market the best, and cheapest, thing you can do is head for the Vinegars and oils section. The only thing that you will need in your arsenal is white vinegar. This is the clear stuff. White vinegar is not right and if you do use malt brown vinegar that is fine but be prepared that your bathroom is going to stink like “For Cod’s sake”, for a good few weeks. Take an old spray bottle and fill it with fifty percent water and fifty percent white vinegar. You are now ready to make lime scale a thing of the past on your shower screen.

Detect the lime scale areas and give it a good spray with the vinegar water solution. In fact you might as well spray the whole thing. You will need to apply a bit of your own power here and start rubbing the stuff in and off you shower screen. The next step is to get a dry cloth and start buffing it.

There are a few ways of stopping it from happening again. First of all, reduce the amount of steam in the bathroom by opening a window or making sure that your fan is switched on. Secondly have a towel or cloths on hand to wipe up and absorb any of the moisture that is on the screen to get rid of all the excess water. It takes a little time but it will be worth it.
