There are a number of odd noises that can occur with your system and here are just a couple of them.

  • Rattling – if you notice a rattling noise in our system it may be an indication that there is something loose that is rattling against another part of the boiler. It can also be an indication of air in the system that can be removed by bleeding your radiators. It is relatively easy to do this, but it is important that you only bleed your radiators once they have fully cooled down.

  • Whistling – if your system is whistling like a kettle it may be that there is trapped air in your system or it could be as a result of a boiler issue known as kettling. This is where limescale builds up and causes an obstruction that then affects the water flow. When the water becomes trapped and heated it turns into steam which then expands and causes the whistling sound.
