Walking in the winter is a really enjoyable activity – wrap up warm and get out and see the countryside during the colder months of the year. Walking is great for both physical and mental health, things that we should pay extra attention to during the winter months. And where better than Scotland for stunning winter scenery?
With lots to enjoy as well as walking head to somewhere like Largs – there are plenty of things to do in Largs www.localthingstodo.co.uk/locations/things-to-do-in-largs/ and you are also ideally situated to enjoy the surrounding countryside. Here are just a few walks that you can enjoy nearby this winter…
Irvine Beach – If you are looking for a beautiful place to walk which also has good public transport connections then this is it! As well as the stunning sandy beach, you will also have amazing views of the mountains and it is easily accessible on the train – what more could you want?
Burn Anne – This walk starts at the Barr Castle so you can spend some time taking in this historical building before heading off across fields and through woodlands. As you walk you will also climb high enough to see some amazing views on a clear day – over to Arran when there is no cloud.
Turnberry – If you want to see beautiful scenery and lots of wildlife then head here where you can walk along the beautiful beach and spot the many sea birds that call this place home. Walk to the rocks at the end of the beach and you will find great views over the sea.
