Sadly Crufts Dog Show has been cancelled this year in 2020. It’s only ever been stopped by World Wars before and it’s hoped that it will be back next year bigger and better than before. The creator of the Show was one Charles Cruft. He was the manager of a Dog Biscuit factory and saw that a high class dog show might be a good idea as it would bring in potential customers to see the brand. He did not envisage that it would become the huge global enterprise it is today.
You can bet that at the first one in Islington in 1891 that the owners would have liked to have turned up with some Designer Dog Collars like the ones in the link. The innovative idea that Cruft had was that the show should feature all breeds regardless. For the first time the winners of the different classes would go up against each other in the battle royale for the best in show, a decision that has not gone without controversy in the past.
Crufts is now set in the NEC in Birmingham due to its size and scope having soon outgrown its previous locations. It can now expect to have visitors and entrants from all over the world.
